– Minister Peiris tells NY Asia Society |

Unique opportunities are now available in Sri Lanka to derive the fullest benefit from the country’s inherent potential, after the achievement of durable peace and unrivalled political stability, Prof. G.L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs told New York’s prestigious Asia Society during his presentation, “Sri Lanka: The Way Forward”.
He also dealt with the political and economic aspects of the current situation in the country.
The format of proceedings at the Asia Society included a presentation by the invited speaker, and a public engagement with the moderator of the proceedings, based on questions posed by the audience.
In a lively one-hour exchange with Dr. Jamie Metzel, of the Asia Society, who moderated the event, Minister Peiris responded to a range of questions relating to the Eighteenth Amendment, the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission, the Panel appointed by the Secretary General of the United Nations, the performance of Sri Lanka’s economy and its foreign relations.
