The meeting took place on the eve of First Ladies Forum where wives of State leaders in 22 countries meet to discuss various issues of national and international importance.

The First Lady discussed with her Malaysian counterpart on further enhancing bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. They also focused on the promotion of women and children’s welfare activities.

Wife of Malaysian Prime Minister said that the world can learn a lesson from Sri Lanka which is heading for development after eradicating terrorism under the able leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

She appreciated the relentless efforts being taken by First Lady Rajapaksa for the empowerment of women and children. First Lady Rajapaksa’s programs towards these objectives were held in high esteem.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa later participated at a banquet hosted by her Malaysian counterpart.

The First Ladies Forum started yesterday (11) evening at Seri Perasana in Kuala Lumpur.
