Manju Wanniarachchi wins Gold
Congratulations from President

 
Manju Wanniarachchi won the Gold Medal for Boxing – Bantam Weight (56kg) Men's Final today (13) at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi, India. This is Sri Lanka's first Commonwealth Games Gold medal in boxing in 72 years.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa telephoned Wanniarachchi and congratulated him on his achievement, which brought honour and glory to the country.

Wanniarachchi defeated Sean McGoldrick of Wales in the final, Tirafalo Seoko of Botswana in the semifinals and Nicholas Okoth of Kenya in the quarterfinals.
