Holding company to acquire Golden Key Companies' assets

Assets of the Golden Key Companies are to be acquired by a holding company in order to speed up the delay of settlements to depositors.

This was decided when members of the two Golden Key Depositor Associations met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today (18).

President Rajapaksa called on Golden Key depositors to discuss among themselves and formulate proposals to speed up settlements.

The initial strategy is to realize personal assets of Mr. J L B Kotelawala and other directors of the companies and pay back to the Security Deposit holders. This is presently being done via Supreme Court Orders and implemented by the Committee of Chartered Accountants.

Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge and Governor of Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal were also present.
