Japan relaxes
Travel Advice to North |
The Government of Japan has relaxed the Travel Advice & Warning regarding the Northern Province, based upon the information provided by the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka.
Earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan recommended to Japanese nationals to “defer all travel” (Level 3) to the areas other than the cities of Vavuniya and Mannar in the Northern Province.
Following the improvement on the current security situation in the country, the Ministry has decided to reduce the security cautionary level in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mannar cities in par with the city of Colombo.
Accordingly the revised travel advisory has been categorized on the level of “Travel Caution” (Level 1), which advises Japanese nationals to stay alert to the security situation and take necessary precautions.
Travel to the areas in the Northern Province other than those mentioned above, would prevail at the level of “Recommendation to consider whether or not to travel” (Level 2) due to mine clearing activities which are in progress.
