Major water
supply projects in Kalutara |

The Government has implemented three major water supply projects in the Kalutara District, under the Kalu Ganga Water Supply Scheme, at a cost of Rs.19, 481 million.
Phase II of this scheme is being implemented at a cost Rs.13, 928 million and this will provide water supply facilities to 665,652 persons. In addition, this will also provide water to industrial projects in the area. People in Panadura, Horana, Kalutara North, Wadduwa, Moronthuduwa and Waskaduwa will be benefited from this project.
Stage III of this scheme is being implemented at a cost of Rs.3, 599 million to overcome the water scarcity in Kalutara as the present water supply scheme in the Kalutara Township has a limited capacity and 35% of the population in the area does not get water.
Upon completion of this project, 489,661 persons in the township will be benefited. The project also has provision to supply water for future development activities in the area.
Another project under implementation in the district is the Intake and Laying of Raw Water Transmission Main for the Kalutara Water Supply Scheme. This project which is being implemented at a cost of Rs.1, 954 million will assure a continuous water supply to about 200,000 persons in the areas along the coastal belt from Wadduwa to Bentota.
