The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has appointed a special sub committee to inquire into the rise in child abuse cases.
According to the NCPA, the sub committee will find causes of child abuse and propose steps to be taken to prevent such incidents.
NCPA Chairperson Anoma Dissanayake said that the sub-committee will be open for ideas and opinions from the public on issues related to child abuse.
When the NCPA in July opened a hotline for the public to lodge complaints on child abuse it received 200 complaints within the first 24 hours of introducing the service.
