Sri Lankan expatriates in UK showed solidarity with President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a demonstration carried out yesterday (2 Dec) in front of The Dorchester Hotel where the President is staying.
LTTE sympathizers too demonstrated in front of the hotel carrying flags of the banned terrorist group amidst the presence of the police.
Meanwhile, members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament headed by its Chair Richard Ottaway MP, called on President Rajapaksa yesterday.
Committee member Ms. Ann Clwyd MP was also present. External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga and High Commissioner Nihal Jayasinghe also attended the meeting where matters of bilateral interest were discussed.
President Rajapaksa is also expected to meet with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
