IDP children & ex-LTTE combatants sit O/L

 

Internally displaced students from the North are sitting for G.C.E. (O/L) examination which commences today (Dec. 13), Northern Province Education Ministry Secretary Mr. Ilangowan said.

Accordingly, 2,598 internally displaced students in the Northern Province are due to sit the examination this year, apart from 22,608 students who sit the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in the province, he added.

All arrangements have been finalized for the internally displaced students to sit the examination in their schools.

Meanwhile, 173 LTTE ex combatants are sitting for the examination this year, the Secretary said.

Sixty five former LTTE cadres, who sat GCE (A/L) last August, would qualify for university entrance according to their Z – score marks. Two hundred and ten ex – LTTE cadres passed the A/L exam out of 360 who sat for the exam, Mr. Ilangowan said.
