‘Muslim Aid’ appreciates SL’s humanitarian
work |

We deeply appreciate all the assistance provided by the Government of Sri Lanka in carrying out the humanitarian work in Sri Lanka, said the Chairman of ‘Muslim Aid’ Sir Iqbal Sacranie OBE who visited President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (Dec. 13) on his five day visit to Sri Lanka.
‘Muslim Aid’ will continue to provide all the much needed support to rehabilitate the Internally Displaced Persons in their resettlement by providing housing and medical facilities, he added.
The Chairman briefed the President on the role and activities of Muslim Aid in Sri Lanka during the last five years.
The President expressed his deep gratitude for the excellence work Muslim Aid is carrying out in Sri Lanka with great dedication and efficiency. And he commended the principles under which Muslim Aid is helping the needy and poor under the banner of serving humanity. He urged Muslim Aid to play a key role in getting the message across to Muslim countries to provide much needed assistance to the resettlement programme in Sri Lanka.
Muslim Aid is an international relief and development agency working in more than 70 of the word’s poorest countries. It opened a field office in Sri Lanka in 2005 following the Tsunami in December 2004.
