Facilities for Sri Pada pilgrims

The Sri Lanka Transport Board has deployed a fleet of buses for the convenience of Sri Pada pilgrims. The Sri Pada season commenced yesterday and the SLTB announced that 20 buses have been added to the normal bus service from Hatton to Nallathanni. The bus services will operate in collaboration with the Train Services.

In addition, special bus services have also been arranged to originate from main cities throughout the island.

It is reported that a large number of devotees numbering over 25,000 paid homage to Sri Pada yesterday, on the very first day of the season. The government has made all arrangements to provide necessary facilities, including health care facilities to the pilgrims.

Construction of foot steps from Seetha Gangula to Indikatupana under the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapakse, has become very convenient for pilgrims to undertake the journey.

Pilgrims are requested to refrain from using polythene in and around the pilgrimage area.
