Road safety campaigners meet President

 

Renowned Hollywood actress, Dato Michelle Yeoh who is the Global Ambassador for “Make Roads Safe” campaign met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today (23).

She is on a visit to Sri Lanka with Mr. John Todt, President of Federation Internationale de Automobile (FIA).

Michelle has undertaken a fact finding mission across the world, and is leading the campaign’s call for a “Decade of Action for Road Safety”. In March 2010, she represented Malaysia to address the issue at the UN General Assembly and continues her work towards making road safety a priority, to save at least 5 million lives, and prevent 50 million injuries and disabilities over the next decade.

Michell, an internationally acclaimed actress and producer has starred in over twenty films including global hits James Bond: “Tomorrow Never Dies”, “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”, “Memoirs of a Geisha”, “Sunshine”, “Mummy 3” and “Babylon AD”.

Dhammika Attyagalle, President of Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC), Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga were also present during the meeting.
