Tea production

Tea production has increased to over 300 Million Kgs by end of November this year, reaching an all time record level. A statement issued by the Tea Board reveals that the cumulative production amounted to 302,451,198 kgs by end of November.
The Highest contributor to this performance was the low grown tea predominantly comprised the Tea Small Holder tracts of land.
This was an ongoing phenomenon that with steadily increasing prices for green leaf, corresponding increase in cultivated extents too were part of low grown innovation and incentive to open larger land tracts to grow tea, quoting the General Manager Tea Small Holdings Development Authority A. Nandasena, development.lk reported.
He conceded that Low grown tea, as reported by the Tea Board, were distinctly productive and kept pace with increased earnings of these growers. Low grown were mostly small holdings who contributed to prosperity of the Tea industry.
Output of Low grown tea has increased by 21 million, mid elevation by 10 million, and high growns by 5.6 million.
