Always show the unity seen in Scout Jamboree- President

As children of all communities are united in this Scout Jamboree, I wish to see all of this country always live as the children of one mother, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa adding that his expectation is to see the dawn of that day.

Even at the time of war children from the North and East joined the Scout Movement, having the feeling that they should live in this country as one nation, the President said.

He was addressing the eighth National Scout Jamboree at the International playground at Angunakolapelessa yesterday (27).

The Scout Movement in Sri Lanka always rendered yeomen service during times of disaster and calamities, said President Rajapaksa. The President praised the valuable service they rendered towards society during the cyclone disaster of 1978 and the tsunami in 2004.

President Rajapaksa explaining the theme of the Scout Movement that," to obey the rules of Boy's Scout Movement in all good faith to carry out one's obligations to one's country and religion" said that Scouts must protect the freedom of Motherland while marching towards progress.

When serving to our motherland we must be honest and serve for the good of the country;a Scout must respect and understand cultural values of other communities, President Rajapaksa said.
