Lanka-Maldives ties to promote higher education

 

The Government has taken action to establish a Management Faculty affiliated to Sri Jayewardenepura University in Maldives.

Accordingly, The Minister of Higher Education S. B. Dissanayake had talks with Maldives High Commissioner Mr. Hussain Shihab at the Ministry of Higher Education today (Dec. 30).

The Minister and the High Commissioner discussed to establish Moldavian Higher Education Institute in Sri Lanka. They also discussed to expand the scholarship exchange programme between Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The Maldives High Commissioner stated that the higher education of Sri Lanka is at a higher position. He emphasized that Sri Lankan universities and higher education institutes hugely contributed to develop the status of the education in Maldives.

The First Secretary of the Maldives high commission Mr. Ahmed Mujthaba, Vice Chancellor of the Sri Jayawardanepura University Dr.N. L. A Karunatahne were also participated at the event.
