LLRC met former LTTE cadres

The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) yesterday recorded evidence from LTTE detainees at the Boosa Detention Camp.

The Commission heard testimonies from 20 detainees people, Secretary to the Commission S. B. Athugoda said. The Commission earlier met the parents and spouses of these detainees when they held public hearings in North and East.

The Commission will hold public hearings in Puttalam, Mannar, Ampara, Pottuvil, Anuradhapura and Kebethigollawa in 2011 giving an opportunity for the people live in these areas to talk of their experiences before the Commission.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa in May 2010 appointed the eight-member Commission to report on the lessons to be learnt from the events in the period from 21st February 2002 to 19th May 2009. The Commission is chaired by the former Attorney General Chitta Ranjan de Silva
