Ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka need be enhanced further in different sectors with particular reference to trade and economic links, said Sri Lankan Parliamentary Delegation led by Speaker Mr. Chamal Rajapaksa, during their meeting with Pakistan Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Kashmir Affairs at Pakistan Parliament House yesterday (11).
Pakistan enjoys cordial and brotherly relationship with Sri Lanka and the visit will help further strengthen bilateral ties between the two, said Pakistan Senator Salim Saifullah Khan adding that there exists vast scope for investment and enhancement of trade and commercial ties.
Salim Saifullah Khan also observed that both Pakistan and Sri Lanka should play a proactive role at SAARC and other regional and International forums.
Other members of the Committee also welcomed the visit and said both the countries have a shared culture and bond of friendship has historical and cultural roots.
They hoped that mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka would be enhanced further through exchange of delegations at parliamentary and other levels.
The Committee appreciated the high literacy rate of Sri Lanka.
The Committee extended an invitation to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Sri Lankan Parliament to visit Pakistan which was also reciprocated by the members of the Sri Lankan delegation, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
