Vasavilan School reopened |

Vasavilan Navodya School in Jaffna which was destroyed during war was reopened after completing its reconstruction carried out under the Uthuru Wasanthaya Development Programme.
The school was rebuilt with a new building, a computer lab and an auditorium at a cost of Rs.10 million.
Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Mr. Douglas Devananda Declared open the School's new buildings with the participation of the Northern Province Governor Mr. G. A. Chandrasiri.
The Minister said that the Vasavilan School is one of the best among the 114 best schools in the island and it will become one of the best among the best five in near future.
The government is paying special attention to boost facilities for education in war torn areas. Under this, the government has spent approximately Rs.17.07m to rehabilitate damaged school buildings in Northern Province and to supply furniture and books to them.
