Water scheme to Hambantota |

The government has taken action to implement a water supply scheme, aiming to supply water facilities to Hambantota which is affected by the lack of water.
The agreement for this scheme was signed recently, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Water Supply and drainage Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena.
The project which is to be completed in four years will cost Rs.9742 million. This is jointly financed by the governments of Sri Lanka and the Korean republic and will be implemented by the Water Supply and the Drainage Board. 11,200 persons will be provided drinking water facilities under this Project.
The Ruhunupura Water Supply project is one of the major projects that will be implemented in Sri Lanka and it would provide water facilities to the Mahaweli Development Zone, the Ruhunu Magampura Mahinda Rajapakse International Harbour, Maththala new International airport complex, Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium, hotels and to the industrial development zone in Hambanthota.
