The Colombo Consumer Price Index increased in January by 1.3 percent to 231.2 points from 228.3 points in the previous month, as a result of the price increases in the preceding twelve month period, especially during holidays.

The Central Bank attributes the low inflation rate to unchanged prices for petrol and diesel and prudent monetary policies.
