Lanka wins PATA

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has announced Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau (SLTPB) as the proud winner of the PATA Gold Awards 2011 in Marketing Media – Travel Poster category held for PATA Travel Marketing Excellence Awards in year 2011.
The Galle Face Hotel, Sri Lanka has also won the PATA Grand Awards 2011 for ‘The story of the legendary Galle Face Hotel’ under the principle category – ‘Heritage’. PATA Grand Awards are presented to outstanding entries in the four principal categories: Marketing, Education and Training, Environment, and Heritage.
These awards have long been proudly supported and sponsored by the Macau Government Tourist Office. This year, the awards have recognised the achievements of 21 separate organisations and individuals.
The award winning poster entry "Essence" was designed to promote Sri Lanka tourism's year 2011 marketing campaign named as "Refreshingly Sri Lanka - Visit 2011",with the aim of showcasing Sri Lanka as an Island of peace and harmony ; a place where the visitor can experience everything that is refreshing under the sun. Theme “Essence" represents the true authenticity of Sri Lankan life.
There were 223 entries from 102 organisations and individuals from the Asia Pacific region this year for the PATA awards. 26 PATA Grand and Gold Awards were presented for year 2011.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, April 11, 2011 at China World Hotel during the PATA 60th Anniversary & Conference, Beijing, China.
