solar power garden 1st phase open soon |

The construction work of the first phase of the Solar Power Garden in Baruthakanda in Hambantota which expects to supply electricity for the country’s increasing demand is nearing completion.
It is expected to add 500 KV power to the national grid by April this year, after completing the second phase of the project which is financed by the Korean Government.
Japan provided Rs.1, 024 million for the first stage of work under which 737 KV of power will be added to the national grid upon its completion. Work relating to the construction of the first stage is expected to be completed by September this year.
The solar power garden will considerably contribute to reach the government’s aim to provide electricity to all by 2012, the Power and Energy Ministry stated.
