Most SL indicators are commendable – UNFPA Rep

Being a middle income country, most of the indicators of Sri Lanka are commendable and people should be proud of Sri Lanka, UNFPA Representative in Sri Lanka Ms. Lene Christiansen said.

Government of Sri Lanka was already addressing many issues and the UNFPA was enhancing these efforts, she said during a discussion with Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera on February 8.

Ms. Christiansen noted that the UNFPA’s 2013 country programme would be extended to other vulnerable areas depending on the needs and requirements.

Deputy Minister Perera, while appreciating the efforts of the UNFPA, assured the Ministry’s support to these efforts.
