Another village under ‘Jana Sevana’

 
Construction of houses for another village under the ‘Jana Sevana’ programme commenced on 19th in Kolonnava to benefit low income and homeless families.

Under this project, 80 houses will be constructed for people living in slums in the area. Infrastructure facilities including roads, tube wells and drain system will also be constructed.

This project carried out by the Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities is expected to be completed in eight months.

The government aims to construct one million houses within six years under the ‘Jana Sevana’ programme.

A building complex with 65,000 housing units will be constructed within the City of Colombo for shanty dwellers. 30,000 housing units will be constructed for the Estate Sector employees.

In addition houses will also be constructed for those employed in the public and private sectors.
