'Divi Neguma' to boost rural livelihood


The Ministry of Economic Development will launch a new programme, “Divi Neguma” as a long term solution to food scarcity and to strengthen the economy of the country.

Under this project, it is expected to establish one million domestic units with the participation of 18 related Ministries.

Grama Niladharis, Samurdhi Officers, Agrarian Services Officers and Health Services Officers will be entrusted with the task of enrolling 100 families from each Grama Niladhari Division for implementing various projects for a period of 3 years.

These families will be provided with fertilizer, plant material, equipment, technical advise and other utensils free of charge while financial assistance up to Rs.10,000/= will be provided through the Samurdhi Bank or State Banks.

This programme comes under the Mahinda Chintana – Future Vision.
