Sri Lanka successfully managed its economy during the global financial crisis, stated Naouki Shinohara, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday (25).

President briefed him on the massive development projects taking place under Sri Lanka’s post-conflict rebuilding process. Mr. Shinohara commended Sri Lanka’s development achievements and pledged IMF’s further assistance on this.

Dr. Koshy Mathai Sri Lanka-Maldives Resident Representative of the IMF, Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunge, Secretary Finance Dr. P B Jayasundara and Governor of Central Bank Mr. Ajith Nivaard Cabraal were among those present.
