Special grants to Northern students

 
Students with academic excellence in the Northern Province were granted Government assistance under a special endowment to continue their studies.

Accordingly, 788 students in the Northern Province, who passed GCE Ordinary Level examination with high marks, were awarded with Presidential Scholarships.

These students were from Valikamam, Jaffna, Vadamarachchi, Thenmarachchi, Kilinochchi, Madu, Mannar, Thunukkai, Mullative and Vavuniya where they faced many hassle of terrorism.

In addition, 100 laptops were given to the Northern students who were selected to the university with high marks.

The awards ceremony was held on 23rd February at Jaffna Hindu Vidyalaya, with the participation of Traditional Industries & Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda and Northern Province Governor G. A. Chandrasiri.
