Foreign investments continue to flow

 

Foreign Investments in equity and capital market show a net inflow amounting to Rs.51.8 bn in 2010, stated the Central Bank.

In terms of exchange control regulations, foreign investments into the equity and capital market in Sri Lanka are routed through Securities Investment Accounts (SIA), maintained in licensed commercial banks, the bank said.

It also said, in 2010, there was an inflow of funds amounting to Rs.215.9 bn (approximately US$ 1,910 mn) to these accounts and the outflow on account of repatriation of investments as well as dividends/income amounting to Rs.164.1 bn (approximately US$ 1,451 mn).

Accordingly, net inflow of foreign investments of Rs 51.8 bn. (approximately US$ 459 mn) was recorded in 2010.
