Kirindi oya water scheme inaugurated

 

Kirindi Oya Water Supply Scheme was inaugurated recently in Lunugamwehera to supply drinking water to about 50,000 families in the Hambantota district.

The project which centers the Lunugamwehera Town, will supply drinking water to Lunugamwehera, Weerawila and Beralihela towns and another 28 surrounding villages. This will supply 5900 cubic meters of water per day and its pipeline network is spread over an area of 300 kilo meters.

The cost of this project amounted to Rs.2.1 billion of which Rs.1.7 billion, equivalent to 1 million Euros was granted by the Austrian Government, and the balance amount of Rs.400 million was provided by the Government.
