Consultancy service for SMEs |

A groundbreaking new scheme to deliver international standard business consultancy services to small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Sri Lanka was launched in Colombo recently.
Supported by international specialists, the Start and Improve Your Business Association (SIYB) is training its first ten consultants to provide tailored support to SMEs aimed at improving efficiency, competitiveness and business growth.
The Chief Guest at the event was the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, John Rankin. In his comments, he said, “I congratulate everyone involved in this admirable and enterprising project, which is a testament to the cordial trade relationship between Sri Lanka and the UK. I am very glad that the UK – and in particular the Scottish Government – has been instrumental in different stages of the programme – from providing funding to expertise".
The program offers two free consultancy visits: an initial assessment carried out by an international consultant, and a follow up session delivered by UK national and SIYB consultants. Two further discounted consultancies can be arranged, and ongoing consultancy is offered at a rate of 5,000 LKR per visit until the end of the funded part of the project in June 2013.
The Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Association of Sri Lanka has extensive experience of business development services and entrepreneurship training. Through Sri Lanka Enterprise Development (SLED) Project, the organization is working with UK-based International Development Agency Challenges Worldwide (Challenges) to support the development of small to medium sized businesses in the south and east of Sri Lanka. The programme is funded by the Scottish Government.
