The Indian government signed an agreement to build a 150-bed hospital in Dickoya.

The Government of India has allocated US$ 10.5 million (47.27 crores Indian rupees) for setting up of the hospital in recognition of the need to establish a well-equipped general hospital at Dickoya near Hatton.

Hospital Services Consultation Corporation Ltd (HSCC) India is the Project Management Consultant for the project. The project is expected to be completed in twenty-two months.

India has continued to extend extensive assistance to Indian Origin Tamils living in that area especially in education, health, housing, and public transportation.

The Agreement was signed by T.S. Tirumurti, Joint Secretary (BSM) on behalf of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and K. R. Tirumurahan, Managing Director, Green Valley's Shelters (P) Limited, Chennai at India's Ministry of External Affairs in South Block, New Delhi.
