The Ministry of Economic Development distributed 500 lorries for those engaged in self-employment yesterday (March 14) at Galle Face ground.

The lorries; Demo-Batta, funded by the Peoples Bank will be deployed to deliver the ‘Poshana Malla’ (Food Package) to the people, under ‘Divi Neguma’ programme to provide nutrition to all citizens.

The lorries were given on relief condition to the members of the Self-Employers’ Association who undertake the delivering task of the food packages.

Addressing the gathering Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa said that this will further pave way for self-employment opportunities for the people, baring fruit to President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s concept for a prosperous village with resources.
