New Elections Commissioner appointed

 
Additional Commissioner of Elections Mahinda Deshapriya has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Elections with affect from March 25.

Deshapriya succeeds Dayananda Dissanayake who has retired from the post.

An alumnus of the Peradeniya University, Mr. Deshpriya is an old boy of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda.

Having joined the Elections Department as an Assistant Elections Commissioner in 1983, Mr. Deshapriya was promoted to the post of Deputy Elections Commissioner in 2006 and became Additional Elections Commissioner in 2010.
