Garment exports increased even after GSP+ removal - President

 
President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that Sri Lanka has not faced any adverse effect on the economy with EU’s removal of GSP+ facility to Sri Lanka as there are more orders for our garment industry.

He said so during a meeting with foreign media correspondents today (28) at Temple Trees.

He added that all fears of harmful effects with GSP + removal have not materialized.

Therefore, he said, in the event of the USA removing its Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) to Sri Lanka, the country will have to face this challenge and will overcome it, too.
