'Divi Neguma'
to develop South |

The Economic Development Ministry launched the Southern Province “Divi Neguma” programme in Labuduwa in Galle yesterday (March 29).
Accordingly, a meeting headed by the Minister of Economic Development Mr. Basil Rajapaksa was held at Siribopura in Hambantota to create awareness among the district officials on the Divi Neguma project implemented with the objective of setting up one million domestic economic units.
After the meeting, the Minister also inspected the construction of the two storied Galle bus-stand complex, the upper floor of which is being constructed as a modern shopping complex at a cost of Rs.280 million. A flyover from the bus stand to the Galle Railway Station will also be constructed.
The launching of the Matara District programme was also carried out yesterday. This function was held at Weligama with the participation of Minister of Agriculture Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene.
Under this, there will be 57,600 home garden units established in the Hambantota District representing the 576 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the district.
