The Japanese government has taken all possible measures to ensure that no radiation contaminated farm products will be sold either in Japan or exported abroad, Japan’s Deputy Ambassador K. Shimazaki said.
“Japanese products including food items which have been exported will not pose any danger to humans,” Mr. Shimazaki said.
Meanwhile an increasing number of countries are screening imports from Japan. The Japan’s Foreign Ministry has asked countries not to overreact to the nuclear catastrophe by imposing unreasonable import regulations and restrictions.
Mr. Shimazaki said that the newly appointed Sri Lankan Ambassador Wasantha Karannagoda was working closely with the Japanese government with regard to tsunami victims.
“Sri Lankans living in Japan are also helping in various ways. On Sunday April 3, they cooked and distributed food among 4,000 tsunami victims” Mr. Shimazaki added.
