Avurudu programmes to promote tourism

 

The government has declared 2011 as tourism year. The tourism year will be observed in 12 monthly themes. The theme of April is "People and Culture."

During April the Tourism Promotion Bureau has organized numerous programmes, with the aim of taking the message of Sinhala and Hindu New Year to the people of the world.

Accordingly, Arrangements had been made by the Bureau to hold a special New Year festival for foreign tourists in Kandy on April 8 and 9.

Another New Year festival will take place on April 14 and 15 at Ibbankatuwa, Dambulla jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and the Independent Television Network.

Also, a New Year festival will be held on the Bentota Beach on April 23 with the participation of foreign tourists.
