The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) has decided to seek expert opinion on the video telecasted by the United Kingdom's Channel 4 News.

The LLRC has invited Dr. Chathura De Silva Senior Lecturer of Department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Moratuwa, to provide expert opinion on the video.

Dr. De Silva will provide his expert opinion on the video at a public sitting to be held on Wednesday at 3:30 pm at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institution of International Relations and Strategic Studies.

Channel 4 in August 2009 showed disturbing footage of a man dressed in army uniform shooting a naked, bound, and blindfolded man in the back. The video said to have taken by a soldier on a mobile phone was reportedly given to Channel 4 News by a group called Journalists for Democracy in Sri Lanka. Channel 4 however broadcasted the video without verifying its authenticity.

Channel 4 has recently said that this month it is to air "probably the most horrific" footage it has ever shown in an investigation into alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.
According to Channel 4, the footage was captured on mobile phones by victims and by perpetrators to keep the images as "war trophies".
