Sri Lanka Navy has shifted its whale watching cruises to the Eastern coast with effect from 06th June.
Whale enthusiasts can now enjoy whale watching onboard Navy’s passenger vessel A 543 in the scenic blue waters off Trincomalee, the Sri Lanka Navy stated. A range of whale watching cruises designed for the convenience of whale enthusiasts are available and details can be obtained on hotline +94 77 7323 050, it added.
It also said with the dawn of peace, contributing to the national economic resurgence, SLN embarked on whale watching cruises, initially in the southern seas off Galle in January this year, utilizing naval assets and expertise for efforts geared towards national development under the direction of Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake.
Sri Lanka, renowned as the best place in the world to see blue and sperm whales, is ideal for close encounters with the biggest mammal on earth. Whale enthusiasts can utilize the expertise of the professionals and sail in the comfort of a luxurious passenger vessel backed by services of life saving teams and medical personnel.
The inaugural whale watching cruise set sail yesterday with Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Jayanath Colombage, tour operators and special invitees onboard.
