600 surrendered police officers killed by
LTTE commemorated |

The Sri Lanka police today commemorated the 21st anniversary of the killing of 600 surrendered police officers by LTTE.
The main commemoration ceremony took place at the Police heroes' memorial in the Police Field Force Headquarters in Colombo.
Acting Inspector General of Police N.K. Ilangakoon was the chief guest of the ceremony.
Six hundred police officers served in Batticaloa and Ampara police divisions in the Eastern Province surrendered to the LTTE under the orders of the then President R. Premadasa who had agreed to a ceasefire with the rebels. Shortly afterwards their surrender on June 11, 1990 the LTTE executed all 600 of them.
