Indian PM to visit Sri Lanka

 

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has accepted an invitation from President Mahinda Rajapaksa to visit Sri Lanka.

This had been conveyed during the three-member Indian delegation’s visit to Sri Lanka, led by National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon and comprising Foreign Ministry Secretary Nirupama Rao and Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar.

The high level three-member Indian delegation met President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday at Janadipathy Mandiraya in Fort and held discussions on bilateral issues important to both countries. External Affairs Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Defence Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Indian High Commissioner Ashok K. Kantha, and Foreign Ministry Secretary Karunatilaka Amunugama were also present at the meeting.

The Indian delegation also had held discussions with several government officials during their stay. Their two day visit ended on Saturday.
