Canada Police arrest four LTTE human smugglers - Globe and Mail

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has made its first arrest over the LTTE human smuggling operations that brought hundreds of Tamil refugees to Canada , the Globe and Mail reported.

The RCMP officers have arrested four individuals in the Toronto area in connection to the human smuggling operations aboard the 'Ocean Lady' that brought 76 Sri Lankan Tamils, all males, to the coast of British Columbia in October 2009.

All 76 migrants have applied for asylum and were released after their claims were processed. They are reportedly living in the Toronto area where a large community of Tamils supportive of the banned terrorist LTTE lives, the Globe and Mail said.

The RCMP is expected to announce the details at a press conference this evening in Toronto.

Last August another ship, MV Sun Sea brought 492 Tamil refugees including 63 women and 49 children to Vancouver.
