Ambatale water project opened

 

The Ambatale Water Treatment Plant Project will be declared open by the Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, today (17 June) at the plant site in Mulleriyawa.

This project has been implemented with development assistance provided by the Government of Spain under the “Spanish Tsunami Facility Fund”. The total project cost totaling Rs.2290m of which the foreign component was Rs.1, 670m and the remaining Rs.620m was funded by the Government.

The project components comprised Intake Structure, Transmission Line, Intake pumps, surge arrestor, water treatment plant, chemical house, filter back washing system and process control units.

The Treatment Plant with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per day will provide 50,000 new domestic connections and improvement to the level of service in Moratuwa and Panadura areas.
