Five new electricity supply schemes set up in the Anuradhapura District were commissioned by Power and Energy Ministry recently. The schemes which cost Rs.84 million were in Mahahalmillawewa, Galkandegama, Kellethirippane, Kalugalayaya 01 and Udukorasagalla.
These projects will benefit 361 families
According to the Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka the ministry is extending electricity supplies to villages with the objective of imparting modern knowledge to the student generation and to help develop cottage industries into small and medium scale industries contributing towards the development of the national economy.
The minister said almost 81 percent of the Anuradhapura district is now covered with electricity supply due to the strenuous efforts of the ministry.
