New fish market complex in Trincomalee

 

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development has taken measures to construct a state-of-the-art fish market in Trincomalee to serve fishing communities in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

The estimated cost of Rs.90.30 million for the construction will be provided by the Ministry and the Post-Tsunami Coast Rehabilitation and Resources Management Project.

The fish market complex with a span of 9,100 square feet will feature modern facilities which include deep freezers, car parks, water purification plants, electricity generators, sewerage plants, rain water removal apparatus, and a canteen. It will comprise of 62 trade stalls on the ground floor, each with a span of 42 square feet.

The fish market complex intends to create a convenient business atmosphere for traders and consumers.
