The government has already released nearly 75 percent of the over 11,000 former Tamil Tiger cadres following rehabilitation.

According to Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation A. Dissanayake, out of the 1,1696 cadres only 3,470 are remaining to be released.

By end of June a total of over 9,200 ex LTTE cadres have been released, Dissanayake said.

The former cadres are given vocational training and language training at rehabilitation centers set up two years ago.

Dissanayake said they can avail themselves loan facilities for self-employment at the end of rehabilitation.
