Consular Mobile Service in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu

 

On an initiative taken by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Ministry of External Affairs will conduct a Consular Mobile Service in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu to provide consular facilities to the public in the Northern Region.

The planned Consular Mobile Service under the guidance of Prof. G. L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs, and with the participation of the Deputy Minister Neomal Perera, will be conducted in Kilinochchi at the Government Agent’s (GA) office on Wednesday 13th and in Mullaitivu at the GA’s office on Thursday 14th, July, 2011.  

The Mobile Service will be held from 9.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on both days, stated the Ministry of External Affairs.

Arrangements are being made in consultation with the GAs of Kilinochchi and Mullaituvu, the Ministry added.  

The services to be provided to the public during these two days are as follows;

•        Attestation of birth, death and marriage certificates, and police clearance certificates which are intended to be taken out of Sri Lanka,

•        Requests seeking information regarding spouse, family members, relatives working overseas,

•        Re-issuing of birth certificates for children born outside Sri Lanka,

•        Repatriation of stranded Sri Lankans,

•        facilitating compensation, salary dues, relief for Sri Lankan employees following a distress or death, 

•        Any other assistance requested by the public on behalf of their loved ones working overseas.

People with Consular needs from Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts are most welcome to visit these mobile services, the Ministry of External Affairs further stated.
