Northern fishing organizations inaugurated

 
Fisheries organizations in North were inaugurated recently.

Accordingly, inauguration ceremonies of fisheries organizations were held in the districts of Jaffna, Killinochchi, Mullative and Mannar.

Fishing nets and financial assistance were granted to the fishermen by the Government in these inauguration ceremonies.

During the last 30 year war, especially the Northern Province fishing community faced untold and immense difficulties and hardships but now a normal situation is being established, said Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Rajtha Senaratna.

Actions are being taken to solve the problem of the intrusion of Indian fisherman into fishing area of Northern fishermen and negotiation in this regard is being held with the Indian Government, the Minister said.
