Compassionate Justice to Rehabilitated Youth in North
- President

The Government intents to grant compassionate justice to the rehabilitated youth in the North. The hitherto rehabilitated young men and women who have been properly socialized and they live new lives while some of them have been given job opportunities abroad, said President Rajapaksa, addressing the public in Tamil at the Chawakachcheri Urban Council Grounds yesterday (19th July).

The President noted that around 300,000 IDPs have been resettled so far. He also said that all intelligent people should come back to their motherland and serve their people. Frequent discussion about old incidents will only bring back anger, hatred and outrageous feelings, he stressed.

“We all are children of one mother. This country belongs to all of us. Everyone should live with equal rights in this country that belongs to your children. Everyone should live with self-respect”, the President added.

President Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda for his endeavours to change the situation in the North for better.

Addressing the rally, Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiyutheen highlighted the President’s deep concern about ‘my country’ and ‘my people’. The President has proved what he says in practice thorough development initiatives, the Minister conceded. The rehabilitated youth lead worthy lives by virtue of the Government’s Rehabilitation Programme, he further added.

Subsequent to the rally, the President paid a visit to the Chawakachcheri market and met with the merchants and the consumers.

The rally was attended by Prime Minister D.M. Jayarathne, Governor of the Northern Province Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, Ministers S.M. Chandrasena, Tissa Karaliyadda, Dilan Perera, Deputy Minister Indika Bandaranayake, MP Malani Fonseka, Jaffna Major Yogeshvari Patkunaraja and a massive gathering of people.
