ACI Infocom to invest in Sri Lanka

A unit of BSE-listed ACI Infocom in India has joined hands with Sri Lanka-based Specialized Tech Disty for the distribution of software products and peripherals in the country.

As a first step towards tapping this market, Specialized Tech Dishty and ACI Ecotech will formulate a strategy for distributing Germany-based G Data's suite of Internet security products, The Hindu reported.

ACI TechServe is a certified distributor for G Data's products in India and South Asia.

Speaking to The Hindu, Mr Alok Gupta, Managing Director of ACI Infocom, said that his company is open to partnering with other local vendors to further strengthen its tentacles in the Sri Lankan market.

“In new markets, it is important to have a local partner which can help us with the product packaging. Moreover, proving local technical support is also very important,” he said.

Separately, G Data Software has launched the 2012 versions of its antivirus products targeted at small and medium businesses and retail customers. The company is planning to set up its fully owned subsidiary in India next year, quoting a top company official The Hindu said.

“While there are no serious regulatory requirements for setting up an India base, it (the subsidiary model) will help our supply chain to take the Indian market seriously,” said Mr Michael Zimmer, spokesperson for G Data.
